is a researcher at the Dept. of Postharvest Science, ARO, The Volcani Institute, Israel. He previously served as the Head of the Dept. Of Postharvest Science, and as the Head of the Institute of Postharvest and Food Sciences, at the ARO, the Volcani Institute. Dr. Ron Porat is an expert on postharvest physiology and quality of fruit and vegetables, and his main research interests are in improving fruit quality and reduction of food losses. His research involves usage of food packagings, coatings, enhancement of chilling stress tolerance, improvement of flavor perception and development of storage systems. Dr. Ron Porat published more than100 research articles in international refereed journals, and currently serves as an Associate Editor in Postharvest Biology and Technology (PBT).
